The Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response program requirements apply to workers who are involved in the treating, storing or disposing of hazardous materials. HAZWOPER defines the requirements of an emergency response plan and the training that is required by that plan in the case of a chemical release or spill. Although there are different levels of training requirements depending on your role, which we will look at in more detail later on, this course is aimed at the First Responder and is designed to make you aware of your responsibilities when witnessing or discovering a hazardous substance release.

The safe and efficient handling and storage of materials is vital in order to maintain a safe working environment and keep materials in a safe condition that satisfies regulatory and business requirements. In this course we look at the potential hazards and precautions to consider when handling materials, the safe use of mechanical handling equipment, the importance of safety procedures and formal training programs.
